Summary
Apple News provides millions of users with trusted information from leading news organizations around the globe. Editors at Apple News highlight the best content on our platform in a fun and fast-paced team environment. We are looking to hire an editor interested in working on AI projects to improve the reader experience on Apple News.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), one-year contract role, with the possibility of an extension. The hours for this role are somewhat flexible but will be on weekdays. Candidates located anywhere in the U.S. will be considered. 

The right person for this role has experience developing or training AI tools and a demonstrated interest in how AI can be used to improve the reader experience while respecting journalistic standards and supporting the broader news industry. We’re looking for someone who has the confidence to work independently, but the flexibility to work with a team. This role sits under the Apple News Copy and Standards team and is not an engineering role, though you will work with our engineering teams.

Tasks include:

  • Working cross-functionally to help develop and improve AI products related to news.
  • Helping to develop machine-learning models to improve the reader experience on Apple News.
  • Evaluating AI outputs and prompts.
  • Developing new systems for measuring and evaluating AI outputs.
  • Working with large data sets to support development of new projects.
  • Working with the editorial and moderation teams to ensure journalistic standards are maintained.

 

 


Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on AI/ML-related tasks.
  • ​Experience working in AI safety/moderation.
  • Experience working for or with professional news publications.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work flexibly with other editorial-team members.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills.
  • Firm grasp of journalistic ethics and standards.
  • Strong proofreading skills.
