Reuters seeks an experienced editorial leader in Houston to drive corporate energy and oil and gas market coverage from the heart of the US energy industry. This is an exciting time to take on energy coverage with oil and gas production at a record high and as the world’s top energy companies execute the biggest consolidation in the industry for two decades. The industry faces the contradictory forces of a new government that wants them to produce more oil and gas and a global energy transition that threatens their long-term existence. It will be your job to drive winning coverage of all the big stories in the sector- and how they fit into the global energy industry story– both through breaking news and investigative work.
The successful candidate will be a well-rounded, versatile leader who can drive and edit stories across a range of subjects and who brings expertise in corporate energy and markets coverage. You should be as comfortable breaking news on outages at offshore oil rigs as you are digging through earnings reports for stories. You will inspire and execute investigative reporting on Big Oil and shale. You should be ready to spearhead coverage of seasonal hurricanes and floods hitting the region and to contribute to stories across the news file that will appeal to a global audience.
