Job Description

This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling through the lens of a camera and eager to capture the essence of our dynamic campus life.
As a Videographer/Photographer at Augustana University, you will play a crucial role in bringing our campus events, academic achievements, and community spirit to life. You will be at the forefront of portraying the university's brand through engaging and high-quality visual content and will play a key role in highlighting our academic programs, campus events, community engagements, and much more to a wide array of audiences.
The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with different departments to understand their visual content needs.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of content creation - from planning and shooting to editing, post-production, and archiving.
  • Ensure all visual content aligns with Augustana University's brand and message.
  • Create compelling video content for university events, promotional campaigns, and digital platforms.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in videography and implement innovative techniques in your work.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.

Job Requirements

Qualifications for this position:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, radio/television/film production, or related degree from a college or university
  • Proficiency in high definition cameras and nonlinear editing equipment with at least 2 years direct experience. Photography experience required.
  • Strong proficiency in photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects).
  • Creative vision with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred qualifications for this position:
  • Proven experience in videography, including filming and editing.
  • Prior higher education, public relations and media relations experience is preferred.
  • Part 107 Drone Pilot Certification.
  • Ability to develop stories for broadcast, print and social media.
  • Knowledge of communications planning and the ability to develop original written content for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to create and/or apply motion graphics to videos.
