Serves as a senior writer and editor and assists directors with marketing communications and strategy. Develops integrated, high-quality marketing and communications materials for academic and administrative areas of Clemson. Approaches all work in a collaborative manner, understanding marketing and brand strategy, target audiences, consistent branding, and how to convey detailed, factual and persuasive messages to desired audiences across multiple media platforms, including print, video, digital and social. Ensures adherence to University brand guidelines and provides corporate-level expertise in grammar, editorial content, messaging and representation of University audiences. Completes accurate and consistent proofreading and editing of materials at every stage of the production process. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Communication Directs the development of promotional information by planning, researching, writing, editing and publishing University publications, advertisements, brand campaigns, web projects, emails and other communications including, but not limited to, social, video and outdoor. Ensures consistent messaging and branding aligned with the Clemson University strategic pillars outlined in Clemson Elevate. Provides planning, writing, editing and proofreading support as needed for divisional projects. Works on other creative communications and marketing projects as needed.
30% - Essential - Outreach and strategy: Counsels and works with collaborative teams, including those within the Division of Marketing and Communications and its University partners. Plans and implements integrated marketing and communications for academic programs, student-centered initiatives, special events, activities and objectives. Works one-on-one with University partners to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Uses and pursues research to provide focused marketing and, as needed, conducts interviews, focus groups and surveys to obtain research-based information required to craft messaging, develop promotional campaigns and support brand guidelines for departments, schools, colleges and others. Is a key brand ambassador for visual standards and editorial guidelines and policies.
20% - Essential - Project management Serves as a key point of contact among editorial, design, production and partner communication on projects, maintaining and adhering to best practices in project management systems. Ensures that partner requests are addressed in a timely manner, that partners adhere to University Brand Standards, and that updates and edits are accurate and implemented on marketing materials. Serves as a project lead on collaborative teams to ensure that projects are on time, accurate and completed on budget.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education : Bachelor's Degree - in English, Communication, Journalism, or related field Work Experience: 3+ years
