Job Description:
Get up to $15K to report a high-impact story that ‘Follows the Money.’
If you've got a great idea for a story, but need resources to get it done,
The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism would love to hear from you.
Applications are now open for Spring 2025 McGraw Fellowships. An initiative of the
Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, the Fellowships provide experienced journalists with up to $15,000 and the editorial support needed to produce deeply reported enterprise and investigative stories with a strong economic, financial or business angle. The deadline to apply is April 14, 2025.
Previous McGraw Fellows have explored a wide variety of issues -- and you don't need to be a business reporter to apply. Many have been generalists, or cover areas such as the environment, inequality or health care; you’ll find examples of the variety of stories we support at
www.mcgrawcenter.org. Given the enormous changes in federal spending and policy priorities now taking place in Washington DC, we are particularly interested during this round in story proposals that examine the impact of these changes.
The Fellowship is open to both freelance and staff journalists in all forms of media with at least five years’ professional experience. Journalists from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. We accept applications from both reporters and editors; international applications are also accepted, but the stories must be published in a US outlet or a foreign-based outlet with substantial readership in the US such as The Guardian or the Financial Times.
Job Requirements:
Applicants must provide a story proposal, a resume and three samples of professional work. They are not required to have a publishing outlet for the story. An FAQ and more detailed information on how to apply can be found on our site. The McGraw Fellowship is a non-residential program; McGraw Fellows work from their own location.
