Job Description:

Non Profit Director of Communications sought for The HistoryMakers (www.thehistorymakers.org), a national 501(c ) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating an unprecedented national video oral history collection of first person narratives of both well known and unsung African American leaders and becoming the digital repository for the black experience. This position is responsible for the strategic public relations and marketing efforts of the organization and will report directly to the Founder & President. This individual must have prior nonprofit communications experience on a national level and work to ensure that The HistoryMakers is viewed as a primary source and disseminator for information about the black experience. He/she will be responsible for setting and guiding the strategy for all communications, op ed columns, website and public relations messages. demonstrate a commitment to The HistoryMakers’ mission as well as be able to function in a mission-oriented organization with a sense of urgency and ethics.

Its digital archive(https://da.thehistorymakers.org user name: info@thehistorymakers.org; password: THM2021) has been licensed by colleges, universities, K-12 schools and public libraries for use by faculty, students and patrons and is growing in popularity in the wake of COVID19 and the focus on online learning. Within the next few years, The HistoryMakers will become the digital repository for the Black experience: providing much needed content, role models, success pathways and frameworks for a 21st century citizenry that has become increasingly less tolerant, divisive and economically and educationally disparate.
