We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Associate Managing Editor - JAMA Medical News (Internal title-Associate Managing Editor) on our Scientific Publication team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office. 

As a Associate Managing Editor - JAMA Medical News, you will provide editorial and managerial support to the Editor/Department Director of JAMA’s Medical News & Perspectives section to ensure that an accurate, timely, informative, and interesting news section is prepared each week.

Job Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or scientific field required. 
  2. At least 5 years of experience in health or science journalism required.
  3. Excellent writing and editing skills required.
  4. Some managerial experience preferred.
  5. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills required.
  6. Well-developed skills in building and maintaining relationships needed.
  7. Demonstrated ability to perform successfully in a high-visibility team environment and be a strong individual contributor.
  8. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines.
  9. Computer literacy required, including expertise with Microsoft Word.
  10. Some evening and weekend work and travel required.
