WFMZ 69 News is looking for a Full-Time Web Producer to join our award-winning newsroom and help lead the way we deliver news to our digital audience.

We are looking for a journalist who understands that news doesn’t wait for a newscast.  Our digital team is often the first place our audience turns for breaking news, weather, traffic and the stories impacting their communities.

The right candidate is a strong writer, a fast and accurate journalist, and someone who understands how to turn information into compelling digital content.

What You'll Do

• Produce and publish breaking news, developing stories and enterprise content across WFMZ’s digital platforms.
• Monitor wires, social media, scanner traffic, newsroom resources and other sources for developing stories.
• Write clear, accurate and compelling headlines, stories, alerts and social media posts.
• Update stories quickly and accurately as new information becomes available.
• Work closely with reporters, photographers, producers, assignment editors and managers to maximize the digital impact of our journalism.
• Identify opportunities to expand television stories for digital audiences.
• Use video, photos, graphics, links and other digital elements to make stories more engaging.
• Make smart decisions about what belongs on the homepage, app and other digital platforms.
• Follow breaking news and take ownership of stories from the first report through completion.
• Help grow WFMZ’s digital audience through strong storytelling, smart presentation and timely updates.
• Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, fairness and journalistic ethics.
• Monitor audience engagement and use analytics to help inform digital content decisions.
• Contribute to WFMZ’s social media presence and other emerging digital platforms.
• Work collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom where priorities can change quickly.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a newsroom, preferably in digital news production.
• Excellent writing, editing and headline-writing skills.
• Strong news judgment and the ability to distinguish what is important to our audience.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure.
• A strong understanding of AP style and journalistic ethics.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and digital storytelling.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize during breaking news.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• A willingness to learn new technology and digital tools.
• A team-first attitude and a commitment to producing high-quality journalism.

Experience with a CMS, ENPS, social media publishing tools, analytics platforms and video editing is a plus.
