MANAGING EDITOR: The Wyanoke Group/Healio/Audience

We are seeking a dynamic Managing Editor to join our Gastroenterology news team. In this role, you will oversee daily content production, collaborate with key opinion leaders in the specialty and guide our editorial team in delivering timely, meaningful news to our Gastroenterology and Hepatology audience.

What You Will Do:

• Assign and edit daily news content for online posting;
• Build/maintain strong relationships and collaborate with key opinion leaders
• Track audience analytics to inform content strategy and improve engagement
• Select and edit content for monthly print issues
• Collaborate with production teams on print issue layout/review
• Lead writers, freelancers and contributors to maintain high editorial standards
• Provide clear guidance, feedback and support to ensure timely content delivery
• Travel to major gastroenterology conferences to lead live editorial coverage
• Coordinate real-time reporting, interviews and post-conference content

The annual base salary for this position is $56,000 to $66,000.  Placement within this range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, knowledge, skills, education, years and level of experience, and equity with internal team members.  If you are interested in a similar position outside of this range, please submit your resume with the code ‘WGJOBS’, as we often fill similar positions. 

Employees living within a 50-mile radius of the office will be scheduled to work two days per week at our office in Thorofare, NJ.

Job Requirements

What You Should Bring:

• 5 years of hands-on experience in news writing and/or editing, ideally in health care or medical publishing;
• Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for accuracy, clarity and clinical relevance;
• Proven ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines;
• Desire to work in a fast-paced news environment with a dedicated team of writers and editors;
• Willingness to work occasional weekends and travel for coverage of major medical conferences and events
• Proven experience with publication planning;
• Experience with health care communications;
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field
• Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) and web analytics tools
