Job Description

Fox News Digital is looking for a full-time Editor, SEO to join the team! You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that writes, produces, and optimizes news content to drive organic traffic for FoxNews.com and FoxBusiness.com. You will need to be a fast, accurate writer and researcher and strong understanding of SEO with a broad range of interests: from politics and business to entertainment and lifestyle to US and world affairs. If you want to write multiple stories a day and want to become experienced in news SEO, this could be your dream job.

You will be offered the following shift:

2:00 PM EDT - 10:00 PM EDT SUNDAY-THURSDAY

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute Fox News’ SEO strategies to boost organic users, visits, page views, and time on site 

  • Support weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual SEO goals, and drive growth on all 

  • Work closely with teams to bake in SEO best practices at all levels to support organic traffic growth 

  • Monitor a running list of legacy content to update and re-optimize for Search, and work with editors on evergreen content across Fox News verticals 

  • Monitor keyword rankings and daily news trends

  • Spot technical SEO issues and execute fixes 

  • Utilize tools like Trisolute, Google Trends, Google Search Console and more to monitor and improve SERP positions 

  • Monitor editorial pitch queue to provide real-time SEO input to editors/reporters 

  • Make editorial recommendations based on performance trackers to increase traffic 

  • Keep up with industry changes in SEO and communicate new trends to management

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the competitive media landscape  


Job Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum 5 years of SEO experience working on a digital news operation that achieved significant organic growth

  • Proven examples of successful SEO projects in both real time and at length 

  • Experience with high-volume, high-pressure, fast-paced editorial enterprises  

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work well across editorial departments 

  • Thorough understanding of SEO techniques, tools, and digital channels including Google Trends, Google Search Console, Trisolute, BrightEdge or similar

  • Advanced knowledge of web analytics platforms 

  • Passion for SEO-driven results 

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines, organized, detail-oriented and reliable with a ‘can do’ attitude

  • Passion for the news, fast-paced environments and shifting focus on any given day

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $67,000.00-89,397.31 annually for high cost labour markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $55,800.00-74,400.00 annually for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
