Primary Duties and Responsibilities: To oversee all aspects of daily facility usage and perform basic studio maintenance; oversee station audio hard drive playback system and web audio streaming services; Oversee pre-recorded programming production and automation scheduling; maintain station records relating to the compliance with FCC regulations; provide on-going training for volunteers and student workers; develop and execute skills improvement programs for staff members.
• Serve as primary point person within station for all day-to-day studio operations and assist contract engineer in all engineering aspects of station operation. • Schedules all recorded station promo spots and prepares daily automation programming playlist for automated dayparts. • Train staff, student aides and volunteers in use of broadcast related software systems. • Coordinate station FCC filings and quarterly issues reports via FCC online portal. • Assist with maintenance of station records pertaining to annual CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) and IPBC (Illinois Public Broadcasting Council) audits and station activity reports. • Responsible for the quality control of pre-produced programming materials to be broadcast. • Develop and prepare the necessary materials that provide both initial and on-going training of student workers, volunteers, and staff. • Schedule and present training sessions as required and as appropriate. • Supervise the student operations aides, and volunteers, as appropriate. • Assist with the maintenance of the station facilities. • Perform as operator on duty as dictated by station operational needs. • Maintain the station archives of both electronic and non-electronic materials. • Assist in the recommendation of needed equipment and/or supplies as they relate to the operations area of station activities. • Maintains all aspects of on-line streaming operations and communicates with users (listeners) of on-line streaming by instructing them in its use and interacting with network engineers to troubleshoot problems when they occur, insuring that service is available to meet listeners needs. • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Education
• Bachelor's degree in Radio/Television, Communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience required.
• Experience
• Three years of radio/television experience with some supervisory and training experience required. • Strong knowledge of broadcast studio equipment and systems required.
Working Conditions:
• All specialized broadcast radio equipment (audio consoles, recorders, transmitters, microwave transmission and reception, etc.), copier, computers. • May be required to work evenings and weekends. • On call at all times that the radio station is in operation and during emergencies. • Need necessary transportation for occasional off-campus duties. • Must occasionally lift equipment weighing over 80 lbs. • This position requires a background check and drug screen.
