ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a multi-talented producer to work on a variety of projects, ranging from weekly conversational podcasts to seasonal long-form narratives to audiobooks. At first, this producer’s work will focus on a highly-produced narrative series about how American history informs contemporary society.
This position requires deep research and storytelling skills, as well as a working knowledge of Pro Tools. The producer should have a good understanding of—and patience for—booking around busy and changing schedules of both hosts and guests. This role will report to an Executive Producer, and will be a hybrid role based in Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with hosts, editor and executive producer to shape episodes and series.
Research episode topics and fact check episodes as needed.
Identify and book guests for interviews, prepare interview preps and questions.
Coordinate and produce interview recordings both in-person and virtually.
Select tape and draft outlines/scripts for hosts as needed.
Collaborate with host and editor on script writing.
Give hosts direction during tracking or interview sessions.
Produce host tracking.
Source music and archival tape.
Maintain production spreadsheet, which includes show summaries, episode text, production schedule (airdates), and booking details.
Work on all aspects of technical production including editing interviews, assembling rough drafts, and rough-scoring episodes, ads, or promotional materials.
Work with the marketing team to gather any materials needed for marketing/promotion.
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Expertise in Pro Tools
Experience and skill booking high profile guests
Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically-dispersed teams
3-4+ years of podcast production experience
Excellent writing and communication skills
An interest in history
This is a full-time staff position in Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY.
Compensation will comprise a base salary, full benefits (medical, dental, vision), and eligibility for stock options in the company. The base salary range for this role is $82,000 - $90,000. Pushkin employees have two weeklong company-wide holiday breaks when the entire company closes so that everyone can recharge, as well as an additional three weeks of paid vacation, paid holidays, and eligibility for parental leave.
This position is in a bargaining unit that is represented by the WGAE.
