Job Description

The individual in this position will have been trained and specializes in writing and the ability to communicate with multiple audiences. The individual will report the Department’s significant events and news, support recruitment efforts, and engage with current students and alumni through social media and other channels. The individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with the ability to quickly write and communicate internally and externally under pressure. The individual must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. The individual must have excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, demonstrated ability to work with diverse people, and must be able to work successfully both individually and as part of a team. Occasional local and in-state travel will be required.

This individual will be organizing and conducting marketing outreach efforts to support the Department’s educational degree programs, must be aware of Department growth initiatives regarding the market and targeted customers/relationships, and have awareness of the Department’s potential to meet customer needs. This individual will be responsible for planning and implementing strategic communications and marketing efforts for the Department across many platforms.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Two years’ experience creating content on multiple media platforms including digital, print, and social media.
  • Experience and strong ability to develop and write feature articles/stories and create meaningful content for multiple audiences.
  • Experience creating and maintaining websites.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn and use social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
