Job Description

Are you passionate about the chance to bring your extensive producing experience to a world-class company that is market-leading for both content and technology? We’re looking for a Producer (Level 1 Journalist) to join our Reuters Editorial team in Los Angeles where we are expanding our coverage.

Our team reports on a wide range of stories, including news, politics, immigration, technology, entertainment and sports. We also produce longer feature pieces for our broadcast and digital clients.

About the Role

As our Producer (Level 1 Journalist), you will:

  • Produce, edit, write and deliver agency video stories from both office and field 
  • Respond quickly to major breaking news events, in a responsible manner 
  • Have a sharp eye for visual news elements and video storytelling 
  • Ability to work long hours, some weekend shifts, often under extreme pressure and unsupervised at times 
  • Thorough understanding of television editorial technology and social media 
  • Excellent communication skills 


About You

You're a fit for the Producer (Level 1 Journalist), if you likely have:

  • Significant experience as a professional Video producer
  • A track record of working with multimedia and video packaging teams 
  • Experience in broadcast or agency television newsgathering and production 
  • Strong skills in driving accuracy and speed while upholding Thomson Reuters editorial principles and policies 
  • Understanding needs of broadcast and digital clients, regionally and internationally 
  • Willingness to travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice 
  • Excellent English writing skills
