Travel Weekly, the trusted voice of the travel industry, is seeking a driven Reporter. We’re looking for a bright, inquisitive, creative journalist to report on specific business areas of the travel industry for our audience of travel advisors and others involved in travel distribution for our daily website and weekly print publication. As the reporter in charge of your beat, you’ll work with our team of editors and reporters to report breaking news, develop sources deep within the industry and identify and craft analysis articles about the dynamic, fast-changing world of global travel. Spread your creative wings with feature pieces and longform journalism and engage with our audience via social media and podcasts.
The winning candidate will feel at home penning quick stories for our award-winning website, TravelWeekly.com; scooping up story ideas on a conference floor; handling one-on-one interviews with CEOs; and flying across the globe to see a brand-new hotel or cruise ship.
This Reporting position requires frequent travel for industry events and other travel experiences. The position is remote, but proximity to a major airport is essential.

What you’ll do:
Report and write breaking-news articles; do research as necessary to write in-depth analyses; produce exclusive enterprise reporting on trends and innovations; write feature articles, personality profiles and question-and-answer interviews, all with the goal of serving the information needs our readers.
Travel: Attend and report from industry conferences and events, and travel to report on new hotels, river cruises, destinations (both established and up-and-coming) and other travel-related topics as needed.
Engage with readers via social media, podcasts and blogs.
Photograph and/or shoot video as required and work with our art team to illustrate articles.
Assign and edit copy from freelancers and other staff writers when necessary.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Two to five years reporting or business writing experience.
Excellent reporting, writing and editing skills.
Familiarity with the fast-moving nature of online deadlines, coupled with the ability to develop analysis and long-form journalism for print.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated success in building a social media following and/or enthusiasm for participating in social media and podcasting.
The ability to be highly motivated with the ability to work independently without on-site supervision.
An ability to work well under pressure and meet aggressive deadlines.
The ability to pivot quickly from covering a breaking-news story to writing an analysis, participating in a podcast with, perhaps, a travel assignment thrown in.
Four-year college degree or the equivalent preferred.
Travel coverage experience preferred but not required.
