The Editor will manage all aspects of newsroom operations including supervision of reporters, editors, and support staff; planning print and digital content and assignment of stories; and setting standards of performance for the news team.
Additional duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to journalistic ethics and assure reporting is done with balance and objectivity.
Oversee digital content and production and monitor all social media and newsletter channels.
Coach team on how to craft and refine ideas, cultivate sources, report, and write articles on a daily basis.
Oversee planning and production of new print & digital news products.
Consistently meet deadlines.
Implement & lead the editorial board discussions and write editorials.
Engage in community and make occasional public appearances.
Maintain the news budget and run the daily news budget and weekly planning meetings.
Approve timecards and other paperwork of direct reports.
