City Bureau is a journalism lab reimagining local media. We do this by equipping people with skills and resources, engaging in critical public conversations and producing information that directly addresses people’s needs. Drawing from our work in Chicago, we aim to equip every community with the tools it needs to eliminate information inequity to further liberation, justice and self-determination.
We’re seeking a highly organized engagement specialist and community-builder with strong project management and communication skills to support the Documenters Network as our Resource and Engagement Coordinator. The Documenters Network is a growing, national community of practice supporting place-based, participatory journalism. In cities and regions across the country, local organizations grow and cultivate relationships with engaged community members, civic actors and news producers to increase civic knowledge and participation. In this role you will work closely with our Documenters Network Manager and Executive Lab Director to grow and sustain a national participatory media network. By supporting Documenters Network program partners and engaging a diverse range of Documenters, you’ll help build a new kind of civic infrastructure alongside a dedicated and collaborative team. The Documenters Network currently supports Documenters programs in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and Minneapolis.
This is a full-time, remote job that can be based anywhere in the U.S. We’re looking for intermediate-level candidates who bring transferable skills, interest in network-weaving and a demonstrated commitment to City Bureau’s mission.
