Job Description

Atlantic Re:think is The Atlantic’s in-house branded content studio. The team creates ambitious, award-winning storytelling programs for the world’s leading brands. Atlantic Re:think is looking for an Associate Content Director to join the team. This position is based in New York City and reports to the Head of Editorial.

 

Currently we are operating in remote-only mode due to COVID-19 until July 2021 at the earliest. We are looking for a candidate who will be able to commute into our New York City office when it is safe to do so.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing, editing, and providing holistic creative direction for branded content programs—articles, infographics, video, and podcast scripts, etc.—on subjects ranging from technology, science, and finance to health, culture, and social responsibility

  • Helping oversee Atlantic Re:think's full-time writers and our network of freelance contributors

  • Leading conversations with clients about complex, multi-platform branded content programs, while serving as a creative liaison

  • Collaborating with internal marketing and sales partners, as well as other members of the Re:think team, to brainstorm ideas and participate in high-level pre-sale discussions

  • Writing and approving story pitches for new business

  • Writing clever and compelling headlines, deks, tweets, Facebook posts, and other types of display copy

  • Conducting interviews and desk-side research for article development

  • Copyediting and fact-checking

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 7-12+ experience as a writer, editor, and manager;

  • Is comfortable producing content for a range of platforms, including print, the web, mobile, and social, and across mediums, including text, video, and audio;

  • Has a deep understanding of how to attract and engage a digital audience;

  • Has an intense interest in the emerging media landscape, from native advertising and branded content to data-driven journalism and social media;

  • Matches a creative, innovative, experimental sensibility with high editorial standards and attention to detail;

  • Has a journalistic sensibility that fits Atlantic values: intelligent, fair, accurate, fast, curious, provocative, inclusive;

  • Can write and edit across a wide range of content areas, including technology, finance, health, social responsibility, luxury, and culture;

  • Can spot talent, work within a team, and operate independently
