The Wall Street Journal is looking for a self-starting, experienced audio producer for our Tech News podcast team in San Francisco. You’ll work closely with our Tech News podcast host and experienced tech bureau in the Bay Area, tapping into the reporting of the WSJ newsroom and also initiating original ideas and driving independent show production. You may be asked to support our other podcasts and the rest of the audio team in New York and London, as well as contribute to long-form, narrative-driven tech and innovation stories.
We’re looking for someone who is creative and collaborative and can quickly switch gears and react to breaking news.
This job reports to WSJ’s Executive Producer of Audio. While you will likely start the job working remotely, you will eventually be based in our San Francisco office.

You Will:
Handle soup-to-nuts production of a daily tech podcast, including but not limited to writing scripts, preparing and recording interviews, editing sound and posting to platforms
Conduct remote recordings and in-studio 2-way interviews with reporters
Do field reporting and interviews with tech industry insiders
Use ProTools or Adobe Audition to cut and assemble shows
Be able to manage multiple projects at the same time
You Have:
3+ yrs experience in audio storytelling, preferably in producing a podcast
3+ yrs working in a news or news-adjacent setting, preferably in tech industry news
Strong journalistic judgment with a specific eye for fact-checking and editorial standards
Experience editing audio scripts, both before and after recordings
Experience learning to write in a specific brand voice
Experience with field recording
Proficiency in cutting and mixing tape for audio
Experience preparing outlines for 2-ways/interviews
Experience with longer form non-fiction narrative is a plus
Excellent skills communicating and building relationships with internal and external teams
A familiarity with major news podcasts and an interest in business news
A mastery of a digital audio workstation (ProTools or Adobe Audition preferred)
Excellent Mac OS troubleshooting abilities
