Company Description:

Since 1981, through its innovative programs and services, Multicultural Career Intern Program (MCIP) has championed the hopes and aspirations of a generation of young people of color from historically and systematically marginalized communities and immigrants on their paths to college and thriving careers. MCIP dares to reimagine and commit time, talent and treasure to a more just society that values the purpose of every child and, through a network of committed donors and strategic partners, strives to create life-affirming opportunities that help young people and their families, allowing our students to thrive and achieve their full potential

This year, MCIP will reach more than 2,000 “at-promise” students and families throughout the District of Columbia to support them in achieving their college and career goals.

  • MCIP’s annual college scholarship awards has afforded hundreds of students from Bell Multicultural High School the opportunity of a college education. Now in its thirty-seventh year, this annual scholarship provides last dollar funding to bridge the gap between a student’s financial aid package and actual college costs.  For DACA students who cannot apply for most scholarships, it can be the sole means of tuition support, because we believe that immigration status shouldn’t determine opportunity.

  • MCIP’s year-round after school and summer programs work with a team of the very best certified DCPS instructors and youth enrichment paraprofessionals to provide 1,000 middle and high school students with high intensity tutoring, mentoring and family support services and academic enrichment services that complement the regular school day.

  • MCIP’s Bell Teen Parent and Child Development Center has been providing exceptional childcare and parenting education services in Ward 1 since 1992. The Center is a nationally recognized and certified as a National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited program. Accreditation is the highest form of recognition an early childhood program can attain and is an indication of a program that has undergone inspection of its facilities, educational practices, as well as policies and has been given a “high-quality” program rating.

All of MCIP’s work is aimed at creating a nation that is more equitable and just, where all young people can freely shape their own paths to enduring success that reflects their full identities and personal and professional aspirations. This is our life’s work, and we as a community are committed to doing our utmost to bring this vision to fruition. Come join us.
