Job Description

The School of Communication at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2018-2019.  Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field.  The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on September 1, 2018.  The deadline for application submission is May 20, 2018.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Seeking an Investigative Broadcaster in Residence.  Applicants should have a proven track record for reporting on, or editing/producing, important investigative stories; top candidates can lead students from the beginning of the investigative process to final broadcast or audio product.  Highly qualified applicants with an advanced degree will be considered.  The position requires the candidate to teach multiple courses each semester in journalism, which could include but is not limited to courses in audio, writing and digital skills.  Media industry experience and ability to teach courses in journalism, audio and video production for newscasts, podcasts, and multimedia storytelling, familiarity with software programs such as Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, and ENPS is a plus.  Teaching experience is a plus.  At a university continuing to grow a diverse student body, we are interested in candidates whose work has included diverse populations in content or behind the scenes.
