Job Description

Peace is Loud is hiring a full-time Director of Audience Development & Digital Strategy who will develop and execute audience development and digital strategies that advance our mission and elevate our program work.

Peace is Loud is a non-profit founded by filmmaker Abigail Disney that strengthens the visibility and influence of women who are building peace and resisting violence around the world. Through film impact campaigns, speaking events and political empowerment, we advance women's leadership in building inclusive, secure communities.
 
This means we do a lot of things, and that’s because there is so much work to be done. For decades, women all over the world have been driving change in their communities, and demanding more equitable and meaningful roles for women in decision-making. These women’s stories are continuously sidelined, and Peace is Loud is bringing them front and center.

YOUR TYPICAL WEEK:
 
In this job, there's no such thing, but here's what a week in the life might look like.
  • Meet with Director of Film Campaigns to discuss digital roll-out strategy for a new campaign accompanying The Hunting Ground, including social media voice and tactics, ad-buys, e-mail communications and use of our text tool to reach and engage audiences. Work with Communications Manager (who you directly supervise) on editorial calendar and work plan.
 
  • Create user profiles for audience members interested in upcoming Women, War & Peace II television broadcast series.  
 
  • Write and send an email to our subscriber base, updating them on our women’s political participation project in Afghanistan. The email is guided by a strategy you’ve developed for email communications across all of our programs, with an eye towards fundraising and raising visibility for Peace is Loud.
 
  • Work with our Information Systems Coordinator to pull a list from our CRM of New York-based press contacts focused on public affairs, culture and international relations.  Review Communications Manager’s pitch to press focused on an upcoming event where our speaker will discuss women activists challenging religious fundamentalisms.
 
  • Work with Executive Director on developing digital-first strategies for the organization’s annual appeal fundraising campaign.
 
  • Meet with Speakers Bureau Manager to discuss digital strategy for coordinated promotion of our roster of speakers, and email our design consultants to create a round of social graphics that promote speakers’ work.
 
  • Liaise with video editor on short explainer video for “Women, Peace & Security.”
 
  • Make edits to the brand guidelines and schedule meeting with full staff to ensure adoption across programs.
 
  • Have a phone call with partner organization to determine dissemination of policy brief co-written by Peace is Loud, meant to inform policy-makers and educators on best practices for teaching Women, Peace & Security.
 
  • Monitor analytics of our audience growth and engagement across programs and adjust strategy, goals and benchmarks accordingly.

You’re a guru at using digital and social media to drive conversation, action and impact. Strategy is your game, but you also know how to execute, and enjoy doing it. You’re aware of cultural trends, and are a bit of a news junkie. You have a healthy obsession with data analytics, and understand how to build strategies that adapt to changing circumstances. You’re extremely skilled at quickly synthesizing information and communicating it out effectively and creatively through digestible content for diverse audiences. You’re confident and bold in your digital voice, with language that is impactful, engaging and imaginative.
 
You have a passion for social justice, women's rights and human rights, and have experience in organizing and advocacy (if not in your career, in your personal life). You hold yourself accountable and are highly self-motivated. You love taking on difficult challenges. You are patient, level-headed and cool under pressure. You have excellent interpersonal and team management skills, with a strong moral compass.
