This position leads efforts creating and aligning content to Bouve College’s brand standards and delivering on the college vision, leadership priorities, while working independently and collaboratively with graphic designers and other internal and external partners. S/he is responsible for writing and editing compelling short- and long-form copy for various marketing and communications projects. Projects may include informational, promotional and other communication vehicles, such as leadership remarks, internal talking points, digital content, collateral, annual/impact reports, op-eds, text for videos/podcasts and more. (NOTE: Does not include scientific or medically-specific technical writing.) May at times help secure and direct freelance or agency writers. Also, effectively works within standard processes to ensure projects are delivered on brief, on time and within budget. Excellent problem-solving, prioritizing, communications, and interpersonal skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field or the equivalent.
5-8 years of relevant work experience with advanced editing, writing, and proofreading skills
Outstanding copywriting skills for print and digital media, including both short- and long-form content, specifically with magazines, collateral, leadership remarks, etc. (writing samples required)
Demonstrated ability to develop content strategies and editorial calendars with “story ideas” for multiple audiences across varied media
Masterful knowledge of AP style (experience with Chicago Manual of Style a plus)
Excellent editing, interviewing, and oral presentation skills.
Extremely detail-oriented; must possess superior organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work efficiently and maintain a high level of productivity and quality, independently and as part of a team; to communicate regularly; balance multiple priorities; and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
