Pennsylvania is at the intersection the country's energy transformation.
From the struggles of the coal industry, to rise of natural gas and renewables, and the future of nuclear power, StateImpact Pennsylvania (SIPA) has worked to help listeners better understand how the state's energy and environmental policy impacts their lives. Now, StateImpact Pennsylvania (SIPA) is looking for a skilled, creative and ambitious multi-platform editor to lead our nationally-award winning project.
The ideal candidate to guide SIPA's expansion through a CPB Regional Journalism Center should have experience leading in a digital-first, multimedia team. If you have a passion for telling powerful stories with unique and diverse voices, and can help journalists turn complex topics into compelling radio, TV, and online stories for a wide audience, this is the job for you. We are looking for an editor able to handle a fast-paced environment while also taking on long-range projects as part of a team with journalists based in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
You will be responsible for working the team to set a statewide editorial strategy and the four journalists in crafting informative reports that will be distributed through all our platforms: radio, TV, our website, Twitter, Facebook, and more. You'll also be someone who uses social media to reach an active and engaged audience across Pennsylvania. Your team will have a big impact in covering energy and environmental policies developed at the state Capitol. If you want your journalism to have the potential to make a difference, you want to be here. The position is also a part of the national NPR energy and environment collaborative reporting project, with weekly calls with NPR editors and fellow energy reporters from across the country. Your stories will be distributed across the state and air nationally.
You will help develop a strong video strategy as well as public forums and panel discussions as part of the grant-funded expansion of SIPA.
Newsroom leaders with multimedia, with an emphasis on audio editing, experience are preferred, but print journalists willing to learn audio writing and editing are encouraged to apply.
We'd love to welcome you StateImpact Pennsylvania...a project that's been recognized with two RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow awards, a duPont-Columbia Silver Baton, an ONA award and a SPJ Sigma Delta Chi award since 2011.
