Urgency reporter
The Courier-Journal, part of the USA Today Network, is seeking a talented, take-charge reporter with an aggressive commitment to urgent news reporting. Unlike the typical breaking news reporting job, this reporter goes beyond crime and mayhem to make sure we’re engaged in the conversation about the day’s hottest topics. This reporter must be social media savvy, have solid news judgment and the ability to think quickly and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations. The reporter also must produce compelling journalism that continuously builds audience and connects with readers through multiple platforms, including social media and video. Our ideal candidate can juggle and prioritize multiple stories and cover local news with urgency and accuracy. 
Bachelor’s degree
At least one year of reporting and writing experience
Strong social media skills
Must be able to work well on deadline
Ability to write accurately and detailed
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Command of media law and principles of ethical conduct
Ability to shoot basic-level photos and videos (primarily iPhone), or the ability to learn quickly
