Mission

Advancement Project is a next generation, multi-racial civil rights organization. Rooted in the great human rights struggles for equality and justice, we exist to fulfill America’s promise of a caring, inclusive and just democracy. We use innovative tools and strategies to strengthen social movements and achieve high impact policy change.

Vision

As a result of Advancement Project’s work in the world, we envision a future where structural racism is eliminated and people of color have power. The elimination of structural racism results in the achievement of the Beloved Community, where operating out of power, fear and hate has been replaced with fairness; sharing resources; and collective, fair decision making for the good of the whole over the few. Everyone has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. We also envision a future where people of color come together to exercise power—both as a tool toward eliminating racism, and as a means to produce agency for self-determination.
